STAX3D Offers Speed and Support to Aerospace Supply Chain
Triumph Group designs, engineers, and repairs aircraft and aircraft components for commercial, regional, business and military use. Although they have 57 locations, Triumph Group in Park City, Utah focuses on helicopter gearboxes. These gearboxes have fasteners that require tightening and loosening in a blind environment. Before the aerospace supply chain company partnered with STAX3D, no tool existed that could meet their needs.
Using Markforged X7 technology, STAX3D was able to help Triumph Group create a unique gearbox tool, reduce the production time of that gearbox tool from 10 weeks to 2 days, and reduce the cost of each tool from $1,500 to less than $100 each.
Triumph Group credits their rapid ramp-up to the training STAX3D provided before the Markforged printer arrived. “STAX3D got online with us and through application sharing, took us through everything we needed to know,” said Triumph Design Engineer Kyle Smith. “Ever since, they’ve been right there on the phone for our questions. Very responsive.”
